Sparkling Diamond Lodge #373 was chartered in 1911 under the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of North Carolina, making us one of Charlotte's most enduring African American institutions.

Prince Hall Freemasonry traces its origins to 1775 when Prince Hall and fourteen other free men of color were initiated into Freemasonry by members of a British Army lodge in Boston. This historic moment gave birth to what would become the oldest continuously operating African American fraternal organization in the United States.

Throughout Charlotte's history, our lodge has produced community leaders, educators, business owners, and public servants who have shaped the Queen City's growth and development.
